The heritage-listed buildings and landscaped grounds that make up Abbeville Estate are over 150 years old and have been meticulously restored and contemporised for the needs of today. Consisting of the Homestead, Barn, garden and our own Church.

Built in 1925 for Alliance Assurance, Administrator House has an impressive façade of Oamaru limestone and Nelson marble. A stripped classical british design, the building is a rare example of the commercial architecture of Basil Hooper, who was better known for his arts and crafts houses.

The beautifully restored two-story heritage space has been fully earthquake strengthened, preserving its historic significance in the heart of Auckland for generations to come. In 2023 the restoration was awarded the New Zealand Architecture Award - Heritage Category.

The venue space, with its stunning wooden floors, is bathed in natural light and framed by the original windows. A stunning art collection throughout the venue adds to the unique character of the space.

A. Under The Dome
Under the Dome is a spectacular circular glass-enclosed venue with panoramic views of Auckland city, Harbour and the Hauraki Gulf. Available 7 days a week for day-time and evening functions, it’s also one of Auckland’s largest venues.

B. Te Ao Mārama South Atrium
Te Ao Mārama South Atrium will take your breath away. This stunning and expansive architectural venue sits under a suspended Fijian Kauri clad tanoa (kava bowl). Light, bright and welcoming with installations by New Zealand artists, it’s a place to come together for larger events.

C. Grand Foyer
Built in 1929, a time of grandeur and luxury, the Grand Foyer’s majestic neoclassical design means your event needs a little decoration. Beautiful stonework, columns soaring three stories high, Italian marble floors, a spectacular stained-glass ceiling, and lead-lights create an inspirational backdrop to your next event.

D. Whaowhia Room
For an intimate dinner or meeting venue the Whaowhia Room is a classic wood-panelled boardroom in the heritage style of the original 1929 Museum building. This space is preserved along with its beautiful architectural features, as one of the most significant art deco period interiors in a New Zealand public building. While this room is rich in history, you have access to kitchenette facilities, and the option to also hire a TV.

E. Auditorium and Lobby
The Auditorium is a purpose-built venue for conferences, lectures and presentations. It sits within the giant Fijian Kauri bowl suspended in Te Ao Mārama the South Atrium. Each leather bound seat has a fold out tray for note-taking, and a clear sightline to the speaker or performer. The adjacent lobby, also for hire, is the perfect space for registrations, standing style catering and networking occasions. Venue hire includes standard audio-visual and lighting.

F. Champagne Mezzanine
Add an extra touch of elegance to your occasion. Positioned in the heart of the Museum above the Grand Foyer, the Champagne Mezzanine is the perfect place to host your next cocktail function.

G. Origins Gallery
Invite your guests for cocktails and canapés amongst the dinosaurs in our Origins Gallery. This is a venue with a difference for cocktail parties and pre-dinner drinks, and entirely unique to Auckland Museum. Origins tells the story of New Zealand’s creation. With life sized 4 metre long replica skeletons, a flying pterandon soaring through the gallery, a tooth from the largest shark that ever lived and other prehistoric objects, it’s like you’ve stumbled into Jurassic Park.

Industrial Venues is a small collective of industrial buildings located in the heart of Auckland City, Newmarket. Three prime spaces for your very own unique industrial event.

A. The Chapel
Stunning A-frame warehouse with white-painted brick and exposed beams. Moonlighting as a church The Chapel has played host to a wide range of events ranging from weddings to live music.

B. The Auditorium
With a huge floor print and numerous side rooms with full live stream capabilities the Auditorium is a great choice for walk-in and walk-out events.

C. The Warehouse
Spacious and versatile location, perfect for a variety of uses. With an open floor plan, high ceilings, and no obstructions, it offers ample room for a wide range of activities, from photo and video shoots to concerts and events. This space is blank canvas for creative minds to transform. This venue is easily accessible and offers ample parking for guests. With its size and flexibility, The Warehouse is an ideal location for those seeking a unique and customizable space for their next project or event.

The Karaka Pavilion offers one of the most unique venues in the country and is now available for your next event. From its extensive gardens, stables and informal indoor/outdoor spaces, to a contemporary formal lounge and dining area, or the 600-seat auction ring, there is a space suitable for any event or budget. Located just 35 minutes from Auckland’s CBD, the Karaka Pavilion offers a first class venue, with a host of options for your wedding, product launch, conference, business meeting, or party. Encompassing four main event spaces under one roof, suitable for groups from 12 to 600. Pristine lawns and gardens provide a beautiful foreground between the pavilion and the stables, that can also be utlised as an additional space.

Mechanics Bay is a versatile event space, sitting on the fringe of Auckland’s CBD with a stunning view of Rangitoto island, north head and harbour entrance.

The building’s architecture takes its cues from the site’s heritage - with Mechanics Bay being the home to Auckland’s first international airport from the 1930s - 1960s. Mechanics Bay continues to be a hub for aviation and is the home to Auckland’s inner-city helicopter landing site.

For the first time, the level 2 space is now available to host your next event - from boardroom rentals to product launches or long lunches.

Elegant oak floors and a meticulously preserved open-beamed ceiling create an
